As the 4th of July holiday gets closer you most likely will have a lot of weekend parties that may cause you to stray from your diet if you're not careful. We, luckily, only have one and it's at our house with my family so it's easier for me to have control over what I'm eating. We have chosen not to grill out this year because we have about a lot of people coming and the longer one of us (my husband or I) is grilling the less time we have to socialize with our family. But, if you're at a party that is grilling out you can take a little pouch of veggies in foil to grill (put small holes in it for the juice to leak out so your veggies don't get soggy) and a veggie burger or piece of chicken to ensure that you are getting a low-fat meal. We are doing Montgomery Inn BBQ Chicken with potato salad, cole slaw, and a salad. Here's a great potato salad recipe that's low-fat if you want to bring this to your party: Red Potato Salad. It has a little kick to it because of the the dash of dijon and hot sauce. I, of course will not be doing the BBQ, instead I'm just cooking a veggie burger in the microwave, no bun because I'd like a a small scoop of potato salad (5g fat, 163 cal), and a salad. Voila! I still enjoyed the holiday meal but not at the cost of gaining weight this week!
