In my research trying to find more information about my own digestive issues I was tested for Celiacs Disease. (see article from the homepage for more info about celiac disease). It's a severe form of gluten intolerance. Gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley, and rye. I didn't have celiacs, but it effects many people. If they eat products that have gluten in them, it causes an autoimmune reaction in the small intestine, causing damage. People have to look for alternatives when making choices in eating breads, cakes, soy sauce, even coating on french fries! In the June 09' Pilaties Style Magazine, they gave a great list of gluten-free products. Here are some of the products they recommended:
-Roads End Organics Mac n cheese (chreese.com)
-Allison's Gourmet B+Vegan Fudge (allisonsgourmet.com)
-Larabar snack bars (larabar.com)
-Pamela's Ultimate Baking & Pancake mix ( pamelasproducts.com)
-Toovaloo Gluten-free Pizza crusts (toovalooglutenfree.com)
Many of these products are available at health-food stores, or online. People can have gluten intolerance, or have a wheat allergy if they don't test positive for celiacs. See your physician for more info and to be tested if needed.
