Diagnosis and prevention of cavities has now taken a leap forward based on scientific research. The Cari-Free system allows for evaluation a patient's risk of cavities, based on several criteria. The system also uses a saliva test to evaluate the current condition in the mouth and helps to document changes over time. The system also allows for proper treatment and maintenance unique to each patient. Some patients may be put on a treatment protocol vs other patients only need to maintain their current levels of the bacteria so it does not increase. Patients can move from high risk categories to lower risk with proper treatments and dietary habits. The Cari-Free system has been around for several years and is based on accepted scientific protocols to removed subjective opinions, that may not be best for the patients.
