Today is our last day of school.  Typically on this day I'm blogging about all the sugar that pours into the classrooms and the kids are on a sugar high.  This year that is not the case.  Any type of food has been banned in our school district unless it's approved by our administrator for an educational activity.  This year the holiday parties remained as education activities, crafts, educational movies, etc.  This year I no longer passed by the classrooms and would literally smell the sugar seeping out.  I love the idea of doing away with sugar but I do wish there were some kind of snacks at the party.  It's realistic at a celebration to have some kind of food.  Why can't schools model healthy eating?  Fruit, veggies, pretzels, etc. as healthy options for kids?  I worry about so many of our students who may not have enough to eat at home and food here at school is the only time they eat.  Not to mention, fruits and vegetables are expensive so it's nice for kids to be able to have them at their school functions.  Ah well, last year I complained about too much sugar - this year I have complained about no food at all.  I should just be happy the kids aren't being stuffed with a zillion sweet treats in just a 45 minute period! 

Breakfast -

 2 slices 40 cal bread, 1/4 cup egg substitute, 1 oz. turkey sausage

Banana

1 cup coffee with 2 tsp. fat-free creamer

Snack -

JC Anytime Bar

Lunch -

1 low-fat string cheese

2 slices 40 cal bread with 2 tsp. low-fat peanut butter

1 cup Minestrone Soup

Snack -

3/4 cup grapes

Dinner -

1/4 cup whole grain pasta in Mushroom Stroganoff (counts as 3 servings of meat/ 1 fat)

Broccoli with 1 tbsp. margarine

Snack -

1/2 cup Slow Churn No Sugar Added Fudge Tracks with 2 tbsp. Cool Whip
