10/20/15 Katie's Healthy Eating Journal: Friday

by Katie (Jenny Craig 2009 Poster Girl) 21. October 2014 19:15

I was driving down the road today and noticed a poster advertising some kind of conference with Whoopi Goldberg as the speaker.  Now, I don't know if the ad was created 10 years ago and marketing just kept using the same one or they just pulled a picture of Whoopi from when she was younger and slimmer recently.  All the same, Whoopi is in the public eye every day now that she's on the view.  Let's be honest, that picture of her is not her most recent one. It makes me irritated because even if you don't watch The View I'm sure you've at least channel surfed and notice Whoopi on The View.  I'm always impressed how confident she is on National TV even with a considerable weight gain.  That sounds shallow but when you're on TV there's so much pressure to thin.  I liked that about her carefree attitude but then that poster on the side of the road is an unrealistic picture of her at least 35 pounds lighter.  What kind of message does it send?  Only thin people should be on billboards?  People will only want to see her if she's skinny?  If I ever have a daughter one day I hope and pray she does not suffer from the same unhealthy messages from the media as I do...
