Bravery.  Who knew I had it in me?  I was literally sick the night before because I was so nervous.  It's that whole fear of the unknown concept.  I didn't know what to expect and having an audience and judge watch me ride when I feel so inept is a scary thing.  All the other girls arrived for the competition and knew exactly what they were doing.  I, on the other hand, was just floating around asking people what I needed to do next.  Luckily my instructor let me pick the horse that I felt most comfortable with:  Diamond, a solid paint who is 25 years old.  I have loved her since the first day I rode.  The combination of having my family there, a horse that I knew, and an instructor who is so positive and warm helped ease my nerves.  I even ended up getting 1st in the walk/trot, 2nd in patterns and trail riding, and 1st for all 3 western games!  You should see the ribbons and platters!  You hang the ribbons on your horse and pose with the horse for the pictures afterwards - too much fun!  LOL, even though it was just a beginners class it really helped push me to another level and helped me believe in myself a bit more.  Confidence is everything.  I went to bed thinking, "Who knew I could be so brave?"  I felt really proud of myself.  I went out of my comfort zone and proved I could do it.  The best thing of all was seeing how proud my husband was.  He set up all of my awards and wanted me to take pictures so he could send them to his mom!  That really touched me!  He grew up around horses and showed until he was 13 so it was a huge compliment seeing how excited he was for me.  What a great day!  This is why I challenge you to do something out of your own comfort zone.  Choose a sport or a hobby that you find gratifying.  It may seem trivial but finding things just for you really will help you reach your weight loss goal!
