The other day at a pre-owned book/video store with my son, I bought a $3 Tae-Bo DVD by a well -known exercise instructor. Having no experience with his style of teaching, I didn’t know if I would like his form/theme and whether I wanted to invest any serious money in one. Good thing…
They jumped right into a frenetic routine with jumps, kicks, and punches with no warm up or stretching. The one ‘example girl’ had such forceful form, intensity and energy, she looked like she might hurt someone,
I quess their screaming, crazy energy was supposed to be contagious. It just made me feel anxious. I felt the lightening-speed would lead to bad form, which could result in muscle pulls.
Yes, I know, everyone has free-will; l just don’t use his DVD, but it makes me appreciate those video-based instructors who care if you get hurt by stretching and think about proper form ( and explain clearly to you what the proper form is).
Be choosy and realize that there are a lot of different styles available.
