07/25/15-Paula's Eating/Exercise Journal: Monday

by Paula (Clean Eating Expert) 26. July 2014 20:38

It is my first day back from a weeks- vacation with my family.  We drove and enjoyed a beach vacation (I may need a vacation to get over my vacation).  I enjoyed down-time with the kids doing lots of beach fun like swimming, playing ball, early morning walks with my 9 year old son, and exploring.

I brought my portable DVD player, and my exercise/yoga DVD's.  I got up early and found time for me.  It was a great start to the day and helped  me be more patient with two 7 year olds, two nine year olds, a 17 year old (an amazing help for me on this trip), and a 59 year old husband who all want to be fed and entertained.

I packed about 60 % of the food we ate to help control costs, and eat healthy, while still having 'vacation fun'.  I enjoyed some great seafood (I will no longer share my grilled mahi-mahi with my 7 year old son who ate 75% of our fish), and fruit.

Time spent with my kids is so important to me.  I have strong, fond memories of traveling with my 7 siblings and 6 cousins in the summer with my Mom and my Grandmother (my father was smart and stayed home to work).  I hope to create similar memories for my children.

If you get an opportunity to take a few day to get –away,  it's important.  It doesn't have to be far, or extravagant, just away.  Disconnect.  Leave the chores and errands and just 'be'.
