What if you have a single dark tooth visible when you smile? This addresses the dark tooth that has had a previous root canal filling. The first option is called a "walking bleach". This is wear a special bleaching agent in placed inside the back part of the tooth over a sealed root canal filling. The bleaching agent is changed weekly as necessary. It takes about 1-3 weeks for the color to change to match the adjacent teeth. The color is controlled by monitoring the progressive color change and stopping when the color is acceptable. This technique does not always work, but should be tried first before other more invasive options.
