4/16/15 Katie's Healthy Eating Journal: Tuesday

Today my little boy is six months old.  Oh how the time flies!  I get an email for each week since my son was born from our365@our365mail.com.  It reminds you of how many weeks old he is and typically what most babies are doing around this age.  It's kind of like an online magazine.  At six months most babies should be doing less breastfeeding or formula and more solid foods.  I thought it had an article on the dirtiest and cleanest produce which was really interesting.  The article recommends buying organic baby food for these dirtiest foods:  peaches, apples, pears, and carrots. Well, shoot, these are basically all the stage 1 foods I've been buying...I think I'm going to go organic from now on.  The pesticides are known to effect early childhood development.  Even if you puree washing does not eliminate all pesticides.  Some of the cleaniest foods that are a better choice if you're not going organic are:  sweet potatoes, sweet peas, pineapple, corn, broccoli, tomato, and asparagus.  These clean vs. dirty foods applies not to just baby food but obviously all food we purchase.
