Our bodies consist primarily of water (60% is water weight) so it makes sense that your body needs a lot of it.  You wouldn't believe how many people complain that they just cannot get the recommended amount of water - usually about 8 or 9 cups.  I think the easiest way to get it all in is to bring a water bottle to work everyday or make one at home for the day.  If you drink a large water bottle and then have a large glass with every meal you should be just about at 8 cups.  How can you tell you're not dehydrated?  Your pee should be colorless and you shouldn't get to the point of actually feeling thirsty.  This will help you feel full longer, it washes toxins out of your body and carries vital nutrients to your organs and cells.  It also helps you so you feel more energized.  If you are dehydrated you feel sluggish and many times can get a headache.  If you gulp it down without really thinking about it you should be able to get it all in.
