The chiropractic adjustment has both long term and short term effects. Changing the biomechanics of the spine changes the surrounding physiology. Many studies show the effects of the central and peripheral nervous system. The peripheral nerves are the nerves outside the brain and spinal cord. Recent studies show that muscle spasms can be alleviated by a chiropractic adjustment.
