02/23/15- Paula's Eating/Exercise Journal: Wednesday

Yesterday I had to put my dog of 11 years, Lizzy down.  She had been a faithful, loving friend, and super great with my kids.  Everyone who ever met her was impressed with her calm nature and loving disposition.  She was so well trained, that when my 17 year old was in middle school, she played the dog in ‘Annie’, because she was the only dog who tried out for the part that would stay on stage when their owner walked off.

She became well known in the neighborhood when my little kids were small, because she would walk right beside my stroller, on the street bike path, without a leash.  We enjoyed our exercise together.

She followed me everywhere and often forgot that she was in fact, not a lap dog. 

My mother loved her so, that when she had lung cancer, I thought of temporarily giving Liz to her just for her happiness.  Unfortunately, golden retrievers shed a lot, so we just decided to go often for visits instead.  As a bizarre turn of fate, Liz also died of lung cancer.  It came on swiftly, and we decided to let her go take care of Grandma and Papa in heaven.

I have a great vet that was very caring towards Liz.  I feel blessed that I had someone to help me take care of her.  On that note, I'd like to welcome our newest blogger, Dr. Peter Hill.  I feel he's important to the YourCity.MD blogger family, because people's pets play such an im portant role in their continued good mental and physical health, and getting advice from him on keeping all kinds of pets happy is great.

Recumbent bike- 30 minutes

P90X yoga- 85 minutes

Wednesday- 02/23/11- Eating Diary:

7 am- 4 egg whites (67 cal)

2 oz. oatmeal ( dry weight) (221 cal)

11 am-   whey protein shake, 1/4 cup pasturized egg whites (160 cal)

2 p.m.- 5 oz cod (230 cal)

3 oz brown rice ( 101 cal)

8 oz green vegetables ( raw or steamed) (88 cal)

1/2 tsp uda or flax oil ( 65 cal)

no calorie or reduced sugar diabetic salad dressing

Snack:

3 oz potatoes ( boiled in skin) (64 oz)

8 oz green vegetables ( raw or steamed ) (88 cal)

Dinner:

-3 oz. Halibut (baked) (145 cal)

3 oz adamame (frozen, thawed) (104 cal)

2 cupw steamed spinach, garlic, 1/2 tsp EVOO ( 88 cal)

1/2 bakeed sweet potato, cinnamon, butter flavor spray ( 65 cal)

TOTAL CALORIES: 1551
