12/13/14 Katie's Healthy Eating Journal: Monday

by Katie (Jenny Craig 2009 Poster Girl) 13. December 2013 19:17

I have now worked out 5/6 days so far this week.  I am pretty proud of myself.  Today I opted to go on another hike so the dogs could get out of the house.  When it's so cold like this for days on end I feel sorry for them because they are bored.  They love to be outside and when it's this cold they are house-bound just like me!  Our school had a snow day (even though it didn't matter for me because I'm still on maternity leave) which means last night we had a lot of snow come in with the wind chill today it feels like 3 degrees.  It's unbelieveable how much snow is blowing around with the heavy winds.  My point is, when I took the dogs out after the first 15 minutes I was so cold and exhausted that I wanted to give up and go home.  The wind was literally stinging my face and the snow was so thick coupled with the plowed fields that my legs ached and were so tired.  Plus, I know that dogs should be hardy in the snow but I wasn't sure how good it was for them to be out in such cold weather as well as the ligaments they both hurt this past summer and I have to keep giving them anti-inflammatories after every time we hike.  They were still sore from the hike two days ago in the mud.  I figured if they looked in pain or cold somehow they would show it...instead they seemed to be having a great time, galloping, leaping, and burying their heads in the snow.  Too cute!  It was hard for me to even enjoy how much fun they were having thought because the wind was just incredibly intense.  It felt like it was going right though me even though I had layers on every aspect of my body.  I stuck it out and ended up getting in a great workout for about 40 minutes.  I was covered in sweat by the time I was done from trying to avoid sinking into the muddy fields and being knee deep in snow.  Tomorrow I have to have had a weight loss after all these days of working out.  I'll let you know how I do tomorrow...
