I read an article in the October issue of Marie Claire magazine that I applaud called “Big Girl in a Skinny World”, by Ashley Falcon.

She addresses the issues that plus-size women have finding well fitting, plus-size clothes.  The reality is that a plus-size woman’s body is proportioned differently than a thin-build, size 2 model.  The size 2 model has no curves!  You just can’t add inches of fabric everywhere to a garment and have it be flattering for a typical size 16 body!

Ms. Falcon commends DKNY jeans for addressing these style/design issues.  DKNY made changes in their fabrics and cuts which make them more flattering on a plus-size woman. I believe these same issues are true for large-size men as well.  It’s about time these problems are being addressed.

Women and men of all sizes want to feel stylish, handsome or pretty, and even sexy!  Let’s keep it up designers!

 

Wednesday 11/03/10 Workout Diary:

Bike on street- 13.4 miles,  52 minutes

Strength train- 50's(see Monday for explanation)  legs

leg extention (20 lb)

single leg, lying hamstring curl- stability ball, 2 lb leg weights 

squats- 10 lb kettlebell

walking lunges (50)

sitting, wall quad hold-lean stability ball against stable wall or pole.  Hold in a seated position for 50 seconds.  This one burns! 

 

 Wednesday 11/03/10 Food Diary:

Breakfast-

Activia Ligh t(110 cal)

1 cup Kashi Go Lean (140 cal)

1/8 cup Organic granola (60 cal) 

A.M. Snack-

2 tsp spicy black bean hummus (95 cal)

3 low-fat whole wheat crackers (95 cal)

Lunch-

3 oz beef filet (157 cal)

Salad- 2 cups spinach, 1/4 cup beets, 1 small tomato, sliver of fat free feta, balsamic glaze/EVOO (69cal)

 apple (67 cal)

P.M. Snack-

protein shake (150 cal)

frozen banana (90 cal) 

Dinner-

4 3/4 Scallops (119 cal)

1/2 cup mashed sweet potatoes with saute' sshallots and cinnamon (140 cal)

1 cup brussel sprouts with shredded carrots, saute' in 1 tbls sesame oil (110 cal)

1/3 cup steamed purple cabbage( steamed with apple cider vinegar) (40 cal)

Dessert-

1/2 cup fat free vanilla yogurt, berries (60 cal.)

 

TOTAL CALORIES- 1403
