Continued from 10/26/10.  It's amazing to me how much the nurses do and how little the doctors actually do.  My nurse (who was absolutely incredible) had been there through everything.  In fact, now that it was time for the big push, she was the first one to have my husband hold one of my legs and she held the other while as a contraction occurred she told me to push with everything I had.  Wow, and yet still, no doctor.  It was not until that baby was crowning that the doctor was called.  I really had no idea how valuable those labor and delivery nurses were...they do everything.  After only a few short pushes in preparation of the doctor my nurse told me to stop.  She said this baby was ready to come out any minute now.  She immediately called the doctor but told me that the doctor may take her time not believing only a few short pushes left that baby ready to come out.  I guess typically it takes a first time Mom two hours or longer to deliver.  My nurse sure was right!  The baby was crowned and it took my doctor 45 minutes to arrive so I could start pushing again.  Everyone thought I should be furious with my doctor for making me wait so long, especially because the baby had and still has, a hematoma.  For those of you that do not know, a hematoma is basically when blood collects outside the blood vessels producing what looks like a large raised bruise or conehead.  Usually just giving them time will cause them to go down; sometimes they must be surgically removed by extracting fluid.  We suspect that because he had to wait so long in the birth canal blood started collecting outside the vessels in his head.  To be continued...

100 cal English Muffin, 1/4 cup egg whites, 1 Morning Star Veggie Bacon

1 cup fat-free organic milk

Banana

Lunch - 

Subway

flatbread, turkey, lettuce, tomato, mustard, peppers, onion

Snack - 

3/4 cup strawberries

fat-free yogurt

Dinner - 

1 cup low-fat cheese tortellini in low-sodium crushed tomatoes 

Salad (lettuce, tomatoes, croutons, taco strips) 2 tbsp. low-fat ranch

Snack - 

Skinny Cow
