10/21/14 Katie's Healthy Eating Journal: Thursday

by Katie (Jenny Craig 2009 Poster Girl) 21. October 2013 19:57

Continuation from 10/20/10.  After I got up and walked around to try and stop the contractions, which did not work, I began to realize maybe just maybe I was going into labor.  I still didn't want to wake up my husband because I would have felt awful if it was just false labor.  I waited another hour but the contractions kept on coming and they were increasing in intensity.  It was time to wake up the hubby and start timing them.  My doctor didn't want us to call until they were 5 minutes apart.  While we laid in bed in the dark we timed the contractions which typically were about 6-8 minutes apart, but some were 14 which was what was throwing us off.  I told my husband, "Let's wait until 6 am to see if I should get ready for work or if we're going to the hospital."  (Keep in mind at this point it was only 4 am).  Over the next half hour the contractions began to become unbearable.  Much more painful than a menstrual cramp...and they were occurring every 6-8 minutes!  It didn't take me long while in pain to tell my husband to call the doctor.  When we told him how far apart they were and that we live 40 minutes away from the hospital his response was, "You need to get to the hospital right now." In the back of my mind I had not fully admitted I was in labor and was freaking out that they were false labor pains, the hospital was going to send me home, and then I looked ridiculous to everyone including my job.  For the next hour my husband and I moved at a fast speed to try and get out of the house.  I began to panic just slightly.  To be continued...
