9/29/14 Katie's Healthy Eating Journal: Wednesday

Today I had a long talk with my friend who just had her first baby a year ago.  I highly recommend when you're pregnant (especially with your first) to have a friend or family member that is or has gone through what you have because something about it makes it easier to get through the pregnancy.  Since my friend so recently experienced a lot of what I'm experiencing it was nice to have that bond.  The last month is brutal and having someone who has empathy for you because they too have shared it is nice.  You're pretty uncomfortable and miserable and there's no way to explain it until you have experienced it.  I don't say that in a nasty way, but before experiencing it myself I just didn't get it.  When others talked about how miserable it can be my thoughts were, "It can't be that bad, suck it up.  People do it all the time."  But, almost all women I've spoke to also say the same thing, "The last month is awful but once the baby comes you'll forget how awful."  Something about being so uncomfortable and counting down the days just makes the time go by so slowly.  Then today another teacher asked me, "Have you lost your mucus plug yet?"  Awww gross.  No, I haven't - so does that mean I still have an insufferable amount of time left?
