4/29/14 Katie's Healthy Eating Journal: Thursday

by Katie (Jenny Craig 2009 Poster Girl) 29. April 2013 22:38

This past month has been a stressful one at work for me.  There has been a lot of major upheaval and high-stress situations.  I'm counting down until the summer when I can tutor, tend to my garden, and shoot, lay out by the pool!  I know that may sound envious to some of you but the truth is, I guess it all equals out.  I do many long days and sometimes long nights all through the school year.  Ha, still prepare for classes for the next year and have to take continuing education (which I have to pay for) over the summer all the while getting paid very little.  Sometimes I even wonder if I'd be able to afford living on my own if I were single because I'm so in debt from my undergraduate and graduate school loans.  So, when you think, "Wouldn't it be great to be a teacher?" because you want off for a week in December and April as well as the summer...just think you may love your job...but you'd be poor and most likely living pay check to pay check - unless you've got like a million credit hours of continuing education and many, many years of teaching under your belt.

Due to all the stress I knew I needed some "me" time.  The dogs and I went on a 25 minute walk and it felt great under the warm sunshine.  I just kept thinking of how exciting it's going to be to get the ultrasound and find out the sex of our baby on May 18th!  Just basking in the rays and thinking about the babes helped mellow me out and forget everything that has been going on at school.  Don't forget to give yourself some "me" time this week.
