2/28/13- Paula's Eating/Exercise Journal: Sunday

by Paula (Clean Eating Expert) 28. February 2013 23:19

I have a side effect during cardiovascular exercise that is annoying, especially when using elliptical machines, the wave machine, step machines or my road bike; my toes go numb.  I tried modifying my road bike to alleviate the symptoms, when I was told bike a cycling expert that a bike shop sold me the wrong size bike.  It helped a little, but didn’t get rid the problem totally.

I was told by a trainer that this situation happens to lots of people (hence, the reason I’m writing about it) because, as in the case of the elliptical, your feet don’t get picked up so there is a lack of circulation which can lead to metatarsal numbness.

Try using a slightly bigger size shoe.  Your foot does swell up to 1 whole size when exercising.  Also, try swiveling your foot in your shoe periodically.

It’s annoying, but, I’ve never experienced any long-term negative side affect form the numbness
