1/16/14 Katie's Healthy Eating Journal: Saturday

by Katie (Jenny Craig 2009 Poster Girl) 16. January 2013 21:25

So this morning I woke up and felt an inclination to try my first recipe in my new cookbook Hungry Girl 200 Under 200 (Recipes Under 200 Calories).  I decided to make "Gooey Cinnamon Rolls with Cream Cheese Icing."  It's 126 calories, 5g fat, and 6.5g sugar.  I just have to say:  i thought these were AMAZING!  Yum!  Absolutely delicious!  Now I do admit, I don't eat "real sugar" anymore and haven't for at least three years.  The taste truly has gone out of my system.  So what other people think is sweet may not be the same thing for me.  For example, I made almost fat-free brownie's for my parents the other week.  My Mom and I couldn't get over how tasty we thought they were.  I thought my Dad loved them too (especially because he said he's on a diet).  But, when my Mom recently offered to make them for him and he said no, she said, "Well, didn't you like them when Katie made them?"  Ha, he said not really!  He's been caught.  My point is, maybe for true chocolate or dessert lovers my critique may not be accurate; but, in a girl's world that is living as sugar-free of a life as possible, I thought those cinnamon rolls were great.  Sugar is like drugs.  The more you eat it; the more you have a taste for it in your system.
