I keep emphasizing how important it is for your body to not get too much into a routine with eating and exercise. For example, I constantly have a salad for dinner almost every night. When I start to plateau I change all my favorite foods so I can keep my metabolism guessing. Last night I was reminded of ways I need to keep things different. We were at my husband's little half-sister's birthday party and we had dinner there. I did bring my JC dinner (I'm trying to stick to the program as strictly as possible) but I not only ate a salad like usual but a TON of veggies. My mother-in-law makes the BEST side dish of veggies. In the warmer months she always puts them on the grill but when it's cold like it's been she broils them at 400 degrees. She adds several different seasonings (they do not have any salt mixed in with them; be careful of this!) and just a touch of a lemon sea salt. I can't tell you how delicious they were! We had zucchini, squash, onions, broccoli, and mushrooms. We also had butternut squash which was to die for! The only question I now have for my JC consultant is if butternut squash is considered a "starchy veggie" like peas, corn, and edamame? If it is then I can't have it until I'm off JC and it's considered my starch for a meal; if it's not then I'm going to go crazy with that stuff...it was sooooo good! I also did not have any birthday cake which I'm proud of because I LOVE birthday cake! It's bizarre; before I was pregnant I could care less about dessert. Since giving birth I love sweets. Strange how pregnancy changed my food cravings.
